7:00 a.m. October 27 Outage Update.
Poudre Valley REA crews worked late into the night Wednesday to restore power to member consumers after the heavy snow. During the night electricity was restored to more than 5,000 people as the storm abated. As of this morning approximately 2,300 homes and a few businesses remained without electricity. Some line crews worked more than 24 hours as damaged trees continued to fall and efforts to repair lines were frustrated by a barrage of broken limbs. Most personnel were called in shortly before midnight for safety reasons and dispatched again this morning at daybreak.
The areas that remain most affected at 7:00 a.m. are the Carter Lake area west of Loveland several hundred homes near Kersey and remote locations in Red Feather and Crystal Lakes. Other scattered outages remain in other areas also.
We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused so many folks and appreciate the patience and understanding of our members during this weather emergency. We urge everyone to avoid downed power lines or any areas where trees are in contact with lines or other electrical equipment. The safety of our consumers and our crews are the most important consideration as we work to restore power.
