According to the Coloradoan, a mother and her son will serve 10 and 8 years, respectively, on arson charges.

53-year-old Kellie Larson-Wilborne and 34-year-old Christopher Wilborne were found guilty in July of 2013 after setting their home on fire in 2012. The house fire, at the corner of Taft Hill Road and Elizabeth Street, caused 88-thousand dollars in damage.

The pair worked independently in the insurance scheme. Both Larson-Wilborne and Wilborne pleaded not-guilty, but a jury found them guilty of first-degree arson, criminal mischief causing more than 20-thousand dollars in damages, theft of more than 20-thousand and attempted theft.

The financially burdened mother and son duo were overheard planning to burn the house down and family members staying in the house noted the smell of rubbing alcohol as they left the residence for an impromptu picnic.

The pair were sentenced in Larimer County District Court Friday, September 26th.
