Could a warm winter mean extra mosquitoes this summer? According to some, this might be the worst season for mosquitoes in decades. A mosquito bite can be more serious than just an annoying bite. In 2011,  the CDC received reports of 610 cases of encephalitis or meningitis caused by mosquito-borne viruses, 47 of those cases resulted in death.

The City of Greeley is stepping up its mosquito control efforts this year, will it help? According to the Center for Disease Control, the best way to avoid mosquito bites is to use insect repellents on exposed skin. The CDC recommends four ingredients: DEET, picaridin, oil of lemon eucalyptus (or PMD), and IR3535 (the latest addition to the list, and it's sold by Avon).
