In 2004, Melissa Etheridge was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She had a 4 cm lump removed and had 14 lymph nodes removed. Her treatment included chemotherapy and radiation.  Most days, the most she could do was just lie still.

After recovery, she wrote ‘I Run for Life

As TRI 102.5 Goes Pink for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we hold that song close to our hearts;  as an anthem about the disease, it’s effects on the body and spirit, and about not letting Breast Cancer beat you, or anybody.

‘I run for your mother, your sister, your wife; I run for you and me my friend, I run for Life.’

The lyrics in Melissa’s song are powerful.  Running to prove that you still can. Running to put it all behind you. Running for health.  I, myself, have the song on my own ‘gym-mix.’ It reaches out in many ways, though its main theme is Breast Cancer.

TRI 102.5 is Going Pink for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. With that, you’ll be hearing ‘I Run for Life’ throughout October.  We hope that when you hear it, you’ll be inspired to join is in our campaign- to ‘Get checked, Get Support, Get Involved.’

Early detection is the key to surviving Breast Cancer. A great support system is vital to your recovery, if you do get diagnosed. Research is being done every hour of the day to cure Breast Cancer; we all need to get involved by donating to, and raising funds for, Breast Cancer Research.

In any case, we ALL should run more. It’s a great Breast Cancer preventative measure, and it feels good.

Lace up.
