When I marry couples, there are a few things that I focus on.

The first thing is writing. The second is preparation. The third is delivery.

But without the writing, the prep and delivery aren't going to mean much. It's the thing that I love about presiding at weddings. Love is the greatest thing we can experience, and it's an easy topic to write about.

When I meet the couples I'll be working with, it really is a pleasure to get to know them, and then take their very specific story and wrap it in the universal feelings of love.

Beyond that, I scour the writings of the past to find the ones that seem to fit them. This is a joy as well. There is no topic that holds more emotion than that of love, and the ages have been filled with amazing writers who have created artful pieces about it. It's like a homework assignment that I can't wait to do.
