My Saturday night concert experience at Red Rocks was one that will never be forgotten. Aside from the fact that I got to spend an enjoyable night full of great music with my daughter, at arguably the best concert venue in the nation, there was even more to add that made the night unforgettable.

The evening started out with a stellar jazz/funk band, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue. If you haven’t heard of this band, I recommend giving them a YouTube search. During their opening performance, a bolt of lightning flashed over Denver and all of the power went out inside of the amphitheatre. Even though it was pitch black, the band kept playing, making for such a unique experience. After all, trombones, trumpets and saxophones don’t need amplifiers to be heard!

Grace Potter was the main act on Saturday night, and she was incredible! While Potter has played at Red Rocks in the past, this was her first time headlining a concert there. From a girl who first got her start by playing at the beer tent at Dave Matthews concerts over 10 years ago, she has now developed into such a respected and talented artist.  Potter is a true rocker and knows how to put on an epic show! Overall, the night at Red Rocks was simply magical and we are lucky to have such a remarkable venue so close to home.
