The Denver-based company Galvanize will close its Fort Collins campus to the public as part of its shifting vision.

According to the Coloradoan, Galvanize co-founder and CEO Jim Deters said in a corporate email the space is to close December 31 but will remain open for corporate employees while the firm talks with other parties interested in taking over its lease.

Deters notes that Fort Collins was not "economically sustainable" to fulfill Galvanize's mission of grooming software developers through its 6-month-long courses.

In addition to software development classes, the co-working space also opened a cafe and allowed other companies to rent seating and private suites for $349 to $479 per month/person. Members-only growth and fundraising presentations as well as networking events, panels, and "fireside chats" with startups and industry leaders were also made available by the company.

Galvanize will shift its efforts to opening offices in bigger cities like Phoenix and New York, while maintaining its current spaces in Boulder and Austin, Texas.

The Fort Collins location opened just over one year ago - August 2015. The space at 242 Linden Street was formerly Sunset Events Center and is owned by Blue Ocean Enterprises.
