US News & World Report did a deep dive on public schools in the U.S. and ranked them according to English and math proficiency and college readiness. They also included graduation rate. From these criteria, they awarded schools gold, silver, and bronze. They reviewed close to 30-thousand schools with 72 Colorado schools making the ranking and receiving one of the medals. In all, 11 schools got the gold, 31 silver, and 30 bronze.

The top ranking school from Northern Colorado and receiving a gold is Liberty Common Charter School. They boast a 97% graduation rate with a college readiness score of 73%. Both their reading and mathematics proficiency scores are at 77%.

9. Telluride High School, Telluride - GOLD
10. Evergreen High School, Evergreen - GOLD
