Female Stabbed at Horsetooth Reservoir

An arrest was made following the stabbing of a female at Horsetooth Reservoir on Wednesday afternoon.

According to a news release, Larimer County Sheriff's Office deputies received a report at 2:33 p.m. that an adult female had been stabbed in the arm by a known adult male at the Sunrise Picnic Area of Horsetooth Reservoir, identified as 22-year-old Patrick Benjamin Stokely.

Upon arrival, deputies learned Stokely had fled on foot headed north on a trail. The victim was treated for a superficial injury and cleared at the scene by officials with Poudre Valley Emergency Medical Services.

Stokely was located on a trail by deputies after Colorado State Patrol and Larimer County Rangers helped set up a search perimeter, and refused to obey commands to drop the knife. LCSO SWAT and negotiator personnel responded to the scene, where they successfully convinced Stokely to drop the knife. He was taken into custody without incident just before 5 p.m. and booked into the Larimer County Jail on allegations of second-degree assault, which is a Class 4 felony.

Traffic was blocked north and south along County Road 23 while the search was conducted.

This investigation is ongoing, and the charge is merely an accusation as Stokely is presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty.
