Colorado State University has a new Athletic director in Jack C. Grahm and he fired Coach Steve Fairchild two weeks ago. Who is going to be at the helm for the Rams football team next year?

According to the Coloradoan it will be Jim McElwain, offensive coordinator for the Alabama Crimson Tide. A team that will be competing for a national title next month. No official announcement has been made but, there is a press conference scheduled at noon today where a new coach is expected to be introduced. The Coloradoan says they have cited sources close to the coach and in the CSU athletic department that said he will be the Rams' new coach.

ESPN.com reported that McElwain would sign a five-year contract with CSU, with an annual salary of $1.5 million a year — more than double the $700,000 a year the Rams were paying Steve Fairchild

ESPN also said that McElwain interviewed for head-coaching jobs at Fresno State and Memphis.

McElwain works under Nick Saban at Alabama right now on their quest for a national title. He has been a receivers/special teams coach at the University of Louisville, assistant head coach at Michigan State, quarterbacks coach of the Oakland Raiders, and offensive coordinator at Fresno State.

This is big news for CSU and big news for college football. Do you think McElwain will be a good fit for the Rams, who went 16-33 under Fairchild?
