CDOT Warning: ‘Stay Home, Don’t Travel’

The Colorado Department of Transportation said the safest place to be right now is at your own home.

Nearly the entire Centennial State is currently experiencing blizzard conditions.

“Conditions have been rapidly deteriorating,” said CDOT spokesperson Tamara Rollison in a press conference call at 2 p.m. “It is a very dangerous situation out there.

“Our message is to ‘Stay home. Don’t Travel.’”

Roads have been closed throughout the state. Rollison said to expect more roads to close soon and CDOT crews will be headed out to bring any people in closed roadways to sheltered locations.

CDOT crews are also working to clean up avalanche falls that have occurred in high mountain areas of the state.

Interstate 25 is currently closed from Wellington to the Wyoming border. CDOT officials said in the conference call that a crash occurred on I-25 near the Larimer and Weld county borders.

All runways at Denver International Airport have been closed and flights are delayed into the evening.
