Anyone who's seen a commercial knows that Blackberry Messenger (or BBM) is a major selling point for Blackberry devices.  Well, apparently it's so popular that RIM is planning to bring the popular networking application to Android and iOS (aka Apple) devices as well.

According to engadget, this will be a "stripped down version" of the original app.  If you want the full Blackberry Messenger experience, you'll still need to own a Blackberry device.  Hmm...brilliant marketing strategy, anyone?

Personally, I've never used Blackberry Messenger.  Have you?  What makes it so special?  Do you think this app will benefit iPhone and Droid users, even with the myriad of messaging services already available?  Use your facebook account to comment below!
