Once you head west at Ted's Place, you have about 20 seconds to check your phone.

Otherwise, you won't see cell reception until you are almost at Walden, some 80 miles away.

So, when I was on my way to Steamboat and I realized I was getting sick, I had to decide to go back or to keep going.

Tough call. Since my sister was in Colorado for her bi-annual ski trip, I really didn't want to turn around. I only had so much time to spend with her and her family. I pressed on.

Maybe that wasn't the right call. If I had come home, I probably would have still needed medical attention. Hard to say if it would have cost much less than the ambulance ride will.

Check out the video for the full story of how lucky I feel to have the first responders ready to help us out! Long story short, I just wanted to express my gratitude to the Jackson County Sheriff, and the first responders from Walden, CO that came to help me.
