Law enforcement cracked down on traffic safety with its Border War DUI enforcement period, which resulted in 6 arrests.

With any major sports event, there's going to be a lot of people traveling to and from the stadium as well as people wanting to party and have some drinks. While celebration with alcohol is completely understandable (and expected), it's also obviously not a good idea to get in the car and drive afterward. So to keep drivers safe, multiple agencies in both Colorado and Wyoming teamed up for a seat belt, speeding, and DUI enforcement period for the October 1 border war.

Saturation patrols targeted dangerous drivers along a 65 mile stretch of US 287 between Fort Collins and Laramie, as well as parts of I-25 between Cheyenne and Fort Collins. No drug-related arrests were reported, but 6 DUI arrests were made.

"The heavy law enforcement presence during the game between CSU and Wyoming helped keep fans safe," said Darrell Lingk, Director of CDOT's Office of Transportation Safety in a news release. "As CDOT works towards zero fatalities on our roadways we are pleased to support effort like this."

CDOT says there have been 33 fatalities on Larimer County roads this year alone, 6 of which are related to impaired driving.
