The host for next Oscars ceremony has been announced; and I, for one, am kind of surprised.

Seth MacFarlane, creator of the hit animated show "Family Guy" and writer/director of the recent movie "Ted," has announced that he will be hosting the 2013 Academy Awards.

MacFarlane has already proven himself as an emcee on programs like "Saturday Night Live" and "The Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen," so I'm pretty optimistic that he will make a good host for the Oscars as well.  MacFarlane's style of comedy, however, can be somewhat explicit at times.  It should be interesting to see how he handles a more family-friendly audience.

Are you excited that MacFarlane will be hosting the Oscars, or will this decision make you watch something else?
