Well, this certainly isn't welcome news for thousands of people in the Greeley area. We're all bracing for the "Siberian freeze" heading our way and according to the Greeley Tribune, there is a power outage affecting around 17,000 residences across Greeley, Evans and Garden City. ***UPDATE power restored at 2:07PM***

They reported that the power went out just before 1:30 this afternoon and that Xcel Energy still does not have an estimate as to when the power will be back on.

Hopefully they can find and fix this problem fairly quickly. No electricity means no heat for a lot of homes and temps could drop into the single digits tonight.

This might serve as a good reminder to make sure you have what you need in case of a power outage.

***UPDATE 2:30PM***

Thankfully power has been restored! The Tribune now reports that as many as 24,500 customers had lost power during the outage, which lasted only 39-minutes. Everyone had power back on by 2:07PM.

Hooray!
