Winter Storm Warning Issued for Northern Colorado: 8 to 14 Inches of Snow Expected

The National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder has issued a Winter Storm Warning for much of Northern Colorado this evening at 2 AM through 5 PM on Saturday, March 8th. Blizzard Warnings have also been issued for parts of Southern Wyoming and South Central Colorado.

As we weather the storm this weekend, make sure to check our webcam streams of all the routes in and out of Northern Colorado from CDOT, to see road conditions before you head out. … WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM TO 5 PM MST SATURDAY…

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DENVER HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW… WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM TO 5 PM MST SATURDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* TIMING… SNOW WILL BEGIN OVER THE URBAN CORRIDOR AND SOUTHWESTERN WELD COUNTY AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW IS EXPECTED FOR MUCH OF SATURDAY.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS… ARE EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM 8 TO 14 INCHES.

* WIND/VISIBILITY… NORTH WINDS OF 15 TO 30 MPH ARE EXPECTED BY SATURDAY AFTERNOON… .ESPECIALLY EAST OF I-25. VISIBILITIES COULD DROP UNDER A HALF OF A MILE WITH THE HEAVY SNOW.

* IMPACTS… HAZARDOUS WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS WILL PLAGUE DRIVERS ON SATURDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT.

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS. ONLY TRAVEL IN AN EMERGENCY. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL… KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT… FOOD… AND WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY.

.THE NEXT WINTER STORM IS EXPECTED TO MOVE INTO NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTHEASTERN COLORADO LATE TODAY AND CONTINUE PRODUCING SNOW INTO SATURDAY EVENING. THE HEAVIEST SNOW IS EXPECTED FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT INTO SATURDAY AFTERNOON FOR THE MOUNTAINS. THE PLAINS WILL SEE HEAVY SNOW ON SATURDAY. SNOWFALL AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE MEET WARNING CRITERIA AMOUNTS OVER MUCH OF THE FORECAST AREA. STRONG WINDS ARE EXPECTED OVER THE EASTERN TWO-THIRDS OF THE PLAINS SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING. DANGEROUS WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED ACROSS MUCH OF NORTHEAST AND NORTH CENTRAL COLORADO WITH THIS STORM.
