The construction for the new MAX bus system is hard to miss; but we put up with it because it promises to alleviate traffic in Fort Collins, while also getting people where they need to go quickly.  But if you're in a rush, will MAX be faster than just hopping in the car?

The short answer is: maybe!

Taking the MAX bus will definitely have it's advantages.  The Coloradoan reports that MAX transit will rarely have to stop a traffic lights, thanks to special sensors that will turn the lights green as buses approach; and with only six stops between the Harmony and Old Town depots, that could definitely provide commuters a quick trip.

The special buses will run every 10 minutes, which means you’ll never have to wait long for one to arrive. And since they drop off right in Old Town, you won’t have to fight for parking.

Speaking as someone who lives on the South end of Fort Collins, I can't tell you how nice it would be to take a bus across town...quickly.

The city claims the MAX transit system will carry passengers from end-to-end in less than 20 minutes.  But have you ever wondered how long it actually takes to drive that route?

Well, the folks at The Coloradoan gave it a shot, and the results are interesting.  Check out the video...
