You may be amazed why so many people are angry at the honesty of the people holding these panhandler signs. Well, that's because they were being held by four officers of the San Bernardino Police Department. They were undercover at busy intersections, attempting to catch distracted drivers as well as those violating the California seatbelt law.

What's funny is that the sign the officers were holding told drivers exactly what was going on.

So how well did this tactic work? According to the New York Daily News, the operation led to 50 total vehicles being stopped. 33 for cell phone violations, 15 for seatbelt violations and 5 cars were even impounded due to the drivers being unlicensed or driving with a suspended license.

Many people are upset, feeling that the police were insulting the homeless community and by the fact that many people ignore them. However I think it's brilliant, and the people that are complaining are most likely the ones who got busted and feel the pure obviousness of their tactics is salt in the wound of their ticket.

How about this... wear your seatbelt, and keep yourself and others safe on the road, and stay off your phone until your get to your destination. Then you won't have anything to complain about.
