Whitney Houston's attempt at a musical comeback fizzled out last year despite the backing of music mogul, Clive Davis. Now comes word of her starring in a sequel to the 1995 hit film "Waiting to Exhale."

(RTTNews) - Angela Bassett has confirmed that Whitney Houston will appear as part of the cast for the upcoming sequel to the 1995 hit film Waiting to Exhale. Bassett broke the news during a recent interview on CBS' daytime show The Talk.

In the interview Bassett also revealed that Terry McMillan, the writer behind the 1995 film, has written a new screenplay adapted from her book Getting Happy. Forest Whitaker has also apparently signed on to direct.

"It's preliminary, but it's going to happen. She wrote Getting to Happy and she's written the screenplay . . . Loretta, Lela, Whitney, Forest. Forest is working on the script now," she said.
