50 states, 50 food items. It’s a big event happening in St. Louis at the end of October featuring iconic foods from across America. Nebraska’s iconic food is the Runza. Kansas has Sour Cream and Raisin Pie. What food will be representing the Centennial state?

It will be the first food festival featuring one iconic food item from each of the 50 states. Flavored Nation will take place over two days, October 28 and 29, 2017, in St. Louis. They apparently chose St. Louis because that’s where the 1904 World’s Fair was held, which was a game-changer for food. For example, that Fair introduced a hamburger being on a bun!

A Runza sandwich will represent Nebraska, fish tacos will represent California, pumpkin soup will be the New Hampshire entry and Colorado’s iconic dish will be – drumroll….

PUEBLO CHILES THREE WAYS!

Flavored Nation’s website goes into detail on the choice:

The Pueblo chile is grown in southeastern Colorado, around the city of Pueblo. The high elevation, along with hot summer days and cool nights, create chiles that are thick and meaty, which makes them ideal for roasting. While Hatch green chiles (iconic to neighboring New Mexico) are known for their smoky, rich flavor, Colorado’s Pueblo chiles are known for being a little hotter than cayenne peppers. And, yes, there’s an ongoing chile rivalry between the two states.”

New Mexico’s iconic food entry is enchilada with Christmas on the side. Good luck, New Mexico!

Tickets for the event are on sale for $55 each, which starts you out with 10 sample tickets. You’ll also be able to meet the 50 chefs who prepared each state’s item!

If you love food and you love Colorado, this is your event!
