In Denver, they've done '5280' weekends, where 2 people enjoy full fine dining meals for $52.80. During the off season, Colorado resort towns will do 2 for 1's at their best restaurants. I know because when I was a ski bum (more of a ski bum) it was the only time I could afford to eat at nice restaurants in the Vail Valley. It's a way to fill seats, sell meals and keep their people working during less than peak tourism times. Fort Collins has it's own version, and it is going to be delicious.

Participating restaurants wil be offering $25 meals for a full two weeks. We will be able to enjoy the best of the best for that price. It's a great way to explore restaurants we haven't tried before, or go back and enjoy favorites.

Great Plates is also expanding to breakfast. Some restaurants will be offering $2.50 plates.

Here's what DowntownFortCollins.com has to say about Great Plates.

The Downtown Fort Collins Business Association and member businesses have worked together to bring this dining tradition to our community. Dining enthusiasts will be encouraged to celebrate the authenticity, quality and diversity found only in Downtown Fort Collins, at Great Plates of Downtown 2013.

Over thirty-five (35+) downtown restaurants will offer amazing evening dining specials for a full two weeks! Each restaurant will be offering their own unique dinner specials for $25.00 to show off their specialties and favorite ingredients. It could be dinner for four or it could be a gourmet treat for one. Attendees will be able to enjoy this culinary celebration while experiencing the beautiful historic area of Downtown Fort Collins and supporting the Food Bank for Larimer County.

EXTRA! Great Plates 2013, Breakfast specials will be available at participating restaurants for $2.50.  We encourage people to start their day with a Great Plates special at Snooze an AM eatery, La Creperie, or Mugs Coffee.

That is over 83,000 meals for people in our community.  Please leave your donation in the envelope provided by your server after your meal. Donations, tax and tip are not included in the $25 meal package cost.  Thank you Fort Collins and Downtown for your generosity!
