It's a question we hear a lot when we're little; then the years pass, and reality sets in.  Still, some people manage to grow up to be exactly what they always wanted to be.

I talk all the time about how I've wanted to be a radio DJ since I was 12 years old.  But when I was really young, I wanted to be something else: a scientist.  That's pretty much as far as I got.  I wanted to be a scientist.  I think I may have narrowed to down to "chemist" at one point; but my interest in radio bloomed pretty rapidly at that point, and my interest in science was downgraded. (It's a good thing it was, too, because high school chemistry killed me!)

One of my best friends, on the other hand, has always said he was going to be a doctor.  Ever since we were in first grade, that's all he wanted to be.  Today, he's a pediatrician! So, like I said, some people stick to their guns with this stuff!

How about you?  What did you want to be when you grew up?  Did you make it happen?
