Does paddling even happen in the United States anymore?

Not that I'm longing for it in some "I miss the good old days when phones had wires and kids were scared" kind of way, because I'm not. I was just wondering, does this even happen anymore? so I went around and asked my Townsquare people the very simple question—were you ever paddled?

In school, you dirty minded kids. In school.

It seemed that most of my coworkers fell into two category at once. They either said no, and they were young. Or they said yes, and they were old.

The swat seemd to fall from fashion around the time Reagan retired. It wasn't made illegal, and maybe my school district had a policy where corporal punishment was acceptable in junior high and not high school, but as soon as I was out of 8th grade, there was no more talk of the swat.
