Celebrated Colorado singer/songwriter, Wendy Woo, will be wowing us with her wondrous vocals on Wednesday, June 15, as she and her band kick off the Lagoon Summer Concert Series at Colorado State University.

Recognized for her lively performances and unique singing voice, Woo has been called both “Queen of the Denver Scene” and a “one-woman music industry.” She combines the genres of rock, blues, folk, and jazz into her music, and has recorded over 200 original songs that she not only performs, but writes as well. Over the years, the talented musician has had the pleasure of performing alongside some of the nation's mos famous artists, including Carly Simon, James Taylor, the Counting Crows, and Brad Paisley. Woo even has a signature guitar style, that she has titled as “Slaptop,” in which she actually beats her guitar as if it were a percussion instrument. This adds a unique edge and rhythm to her already dynamic songs.

The free concert is set to begin at 6 p.m., and throughout the two-hour jam sesh, listeners in the west lagoon lawn will experience a range of pure music pleasure – including everything from original and heartfelt songs, to creative covers that Woo always loves to perform. Prior to the Wendy Woo Band taking the stage, Little Kids Rock performer, Sharon Docherty, will have the honor of opening the show.

The weekly concert series also features local food trucks: Wing Shack, A-Maize’n Kettle Corn, Austin Taco, Revolution Artisan Pops and the Human Bean Coffee Truck. During the brief intermission, concert goers will have the opportunity to view a short fashion show hosted by Apricot Lane, a women’s clothing boutique that recently opened in downtown Fort Collins. The public is encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and blankets for a relaxing evening on CSU’s grassy lawn. For weather updates and frequently asked questions about the lagoon concerts, visit www.lagoonseries.com.
