Wellington Probably Not Getting New High School

All sorts of rumors have been circulating about a long-overdue high school being built in Wellington; but the Poudre School District says they’re all false.

According to The Coloradoan, Wellington Mayor Jack Brinkhoff recently met with a PSD planning committee to pitch the idea of two new Wellington schools.

PSD could buy the 18-acre lot east of existing Wellington Middle School and build a new and bigger middle school, allowing Wellington to move its senior center, library, town hall and other programs into the building at 4001 Wilson Ave. The school district could also buy roughly 70 acres north of Eyestone Elementary, just across Washington Avenue, the “ideal place” for a high school, Brinkhoff thought.

It may sound like a good idea; but according to the Coloradoan, the PSD planners were uninterested, and even “rolled their eyes” at the idea of a new high school.

Do you live in Wellington?  Do you think the town needs a high school?  Let us know in the comments.
