The Weld Food Bank, last year helped to serve more than 4,500 families a Thanksgiving meal. This year the Weld Food Bank and the agencies they partner with to distribute the turkeys which include food pantries, soup kitchens, and others, need about 4,862 turkeys plus the fixings. Currently, the food bank has about 1,200 frozen turkeys.

Here are some ways to help:

Give a Turkey:

  • Frozen turkeys can be dropped off at the Weld Food Bank warehouse at 1108 H Street in Greeley, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • At Wing Shack locations in Garden City, West Greeley and Windsor. They are also offering five free wings for a turkey, plus they will also make a $5 donation to Weld Food Bank.
  • Blackjack locations in Greeley. They are offering a free large pizza with up to five toppings with the gift of a turkey. Also, they will match every turkey donation with another turkey.

Give Financially:

According to the Weld Food Bank website, for every $25 donation, the Weld Food Bank can provide 125 meals to families in need. If you donate $100 or more, you can qualify for a 25% Colorado state EDEZ tax credit.

Give the Fixings:

What's Thanksgiving without some of the delicious side dishes? Items being collected in addition to turkeys are:

  • Stuffing Mix
  • Canned Green Beans
  • Cranberry Jelly
  • Canned Cream of Mushroom Soup
