This movement began with ‘unrest’ between urban and rural ideals. This year’s legislation session saw lawmakers raise renewable energy standards for rural electric co-ops, float bills increasing regulations on oil and gas and pass sweeping gun control laws.
This has been a complicated journey in that 3 Greeley attorneys argued the state Constitution says that only Colorado citizens have the authority to alter their government, and that commissioners have limited power.
This vote is only the beginning as a new state would need congressional approval.
