The Astoria, formerly the Vault, was facing a grim future.

According to the Coloradoan, they were $35,000 behind on their rent with just over a month to raise the cash.

Lindsey Anderson, the owner, started an Indiegogo campaign. She, however, makes it very clear that she isn't just looking for handouts.

You know me - I'm not one to ask for handouts.

I will sell you anything I own for a donation!  A mug, a CD, my personal art collection, my guitars - everything is up for grabs.  Some of the things I am selling as a "perk" of the campaign:

  • My two large paintings by Diedre DrFranceaux.  Google her.  They are worth something.
  • My musical gear.  I'll keep one guitar but I have four others that can go.  Also a great 100W 70s Marshall head.  it's LOUD.
  • My posters and other art.  Some of them are from Coney island High, some of them are from my gigs, and some of them are just freakin' cool!  Will take photos and post.
  • I have a couple of pieces of antique furniture I will post.  I also have appraisals on them so will include
  • Lots of cool US & UK punk rock 7" records from "back in the day"!  I'm making a list!
  • And more!

That campaign, coupled with a fund raising weekend, has the owner hoping that they can stay in business.

Many events happened their this weekend, all with a focus on keeping the doors open and continuing to improve the Fort Collins staple.

There was a $5 suggested donation each night, a great cabaret show on Saturday, bands on Sunday and a silent auction throughout.

At the end of the show on Saturday, Lindsey took the stage with optimism. She announced that, though the campaign isn't over, and all is not yet said and done, she thought that with the contributions, sales, a big weekend and perhaps some help from family friends, she hoped to raise the money needed to keep the doors open.
