GREELEY

Greeley’s 17th annual Veterans Day ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Island Grove Regional exhibition hall in Greeley. The event was originally scheduled for Bittersweet Park.

  • Maj. Gen. H. Michael Edwards will be the keynote speaker. He oversees the Colorado Army and Air National Guard.
  • The Brentwood Middle School band will again be playing
  • Pete Martinez will be singing a song he wrote for veterans, “We Thank You.”
  • Lunch will be served at the Greeley VFW, 2514 7th Ave., following the ceremony.

LOVELAND

  • 6 a.m. Breakfast at the Veterans Club, 305 N. Cleveland Ave., for veterans that show up in uniform.
  • 11:11 a.m. A parade will depart from Third Street and Railroad Avenue and head north to Dwayne Webster Veterans Park, 401 W. 13th St.
  • Noon. The main event will take place at the northeast side of Dwayne Webster Veterans Park.
  • 3 p.m. Live entertainment and a social hour open to the public for historic tours at the Veterans Club, 305 N. Cleveland Ave. Call Ed Aitken at 667-4722 for details.
  • 6 p.m. All Saints Episcopal Church annual Veterans Day Recognition Service. Any veteran or anyone who wishes to honor and celebrate a veteran is welcome to attend this service. Names will be read as well as service affiliation to honor their duty to our country.  Visit allsaintsloveland.org for more info.
  • On Wednesday there is a Veterans Day celebration at the Chilson Senior Center. The speaker is Colonel Terry Griffin, the Denver Metro Regional Coordinator of the Salvation Army. There will be patriotic music played by one of our very own school bands and fresh cherry or apple pie. The cost is $7! It’s FREE for Veterans!

The Fort Collins Golden K Kiwanis Club and the Fort Collins Senior Center invite the community to share a morning of food, song, and patriotism. This is a yearly honor celebration of those who served.

Honoring Veterans

The National Parks Services will provide a free interactive tour of the Pacific National Monument. The Rangers will bring the sites and stories of Pearl Harbor and take the participants where other visitors cannot go. Participants will be able to ask questions of the Rangers throughout the tour. Registration required. Seating begins at 12:30 p.m.
