TRI 102.5’s Saturday Night Hair Band Reunion!

Join me every Saturday night as TRI 102.5 brings back those fun days of yester-year, with the TRI 102.5 Saturday Night Hair Band Reunion!

A few months back, I decided that we should have a little show to highlight the songs that helped define the 80s: Hair band songs.  ‘Great!’ the boss said.  After that, we needed a name for it.  Then, I attended my high school reunion and it hit me:  “Hair Band Reunion!” That’s EXACTLY what it is- all these songs, coming back together to hang out on the radio!

We do the show 8-10 p.m. on Saturdays, and it’s a blast! I like to imagine the artists all pulling up outside the station at around 7:30 to get ready for the show. Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora would be lounging around the lobby, while they avoided David Lee Roth. The guys from Autograph would be very gracious- ‘Thanks, Dave! You’re the best! Can we get you anything? When will our song be on?” Kip Winger would somehow be the coolest guy in the room. Surreal.

I also imagine the TRI 102.5 listeners- hanging out with friends on a Saturday night, shooting the bull, maybe playing some cards.. “We need some fun stuff!”  That’s where the Saturday Night Hair Band Reunion comes in! You turn it up, smile, and sing along to those great songs!  You don’t HAVE to wear parachute pants, put cans of Aqua Net in your hair, or worry about getting into the club. You just have to have fun!
