Luckily, no one was hurt when a large tornado touched down east of Carpenter late Monday afternoon.

Laramie County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Captain Linda Gesell says the twister damaged at least seven homes and one barn.

"Our East Division Sergeant said that seven of the structures received minor damage," said Gesell. "One received a little more major damage, part of the roof and most of the windows were gone, and that house was located in about the 200 block of Road 151."

"There was also a house in the 5000 block of Road 201 that had the gas line damaged," she added. "That's been repaired by the utility company."

Gesell says the tornado also damaged structures in the 100 and 200 blocks of Road 161 and the 5000 block of Road 202.

"We have not received any confirmation of anyone being hurt," said Gesell. "I do not have any confirmation of any livestock being injured either."

"We only received one confirmation of roof damage," she added. "There might be more once the dust settles, but no one was displaced and everyone was able to go home last night."

Meteorologists from the National Weather Service in Cheyenne are currently out accessing the damage.
