As cable network ratings continue to drop, channels like TBS and TNT are implementing some new tricks you might not have noticed to make more money. As networks are losing viewers to services like Netflix and Hulu, they are now relying running even more commercials per hour to make up that lost revenue. But how is this possible? Syndicated programs, classic TV shows and movies are a set amount of time and 60 minutes is 60 minutes. The new trick they are implementing is speeding up their programming as much as 7 percent. Snopes tested a Seinfeld episode to see if this was true. What they found, is the original episode originally ran 25 minutes while the sped up episode now running was at 22 minutes.
