Last night, my girlfriend and I rented a movie that we've wanted to see for awhile: "The Runaways," based on the story of Joan Jett and Cherie Currie, and the rise and fall of the band for which the film is named.

We enjoyed it!  Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning play Jett and Currie, respectively, and they each do justice to their characters.  It was nice to see Kristen Stewart in something Besides "Twilight."  She had the opportunity to take her acting to a whole new level with this movie, and she took full advantage of it.  As for Dakota Fanning: It's movies like this one, along with "The Secret Life of Bees," that are really helping her escape the negative stereotype surrounding grown-up child-stars.  Her acting is solid, to be sure.  Plus, it doesn't hurt that both Stewart and Fanning are dead ringers for their real-world counterparts!

Have you seen "The Runaways?" What did you think?  Feel free to leave me comments.  And thanks for listening to TRI 102.5!
