I was talking about Facebook with someone the other day, and they were generalizing. "I don't Facebook because Facebook is just filled with drama." Facebook is this. Facebook is that.

It's true. Facebook is all the things we talked about. In fact the internet and the digital world are even worse than the things we discussed. It's also way better. The internet is a blank piece of paper. It's a cave wall that has no art on it yet. It's the unfinished symphony. What the internet is depends on the person.

On the internet, you will see racist comments that will turn your stomach, and you'll see the most beautiful photo that you've ever laid eyes on. You'll have people relentlessly selling you things and you'll be able to donate to the worthiest charity. You'll see things that never claimed to have a point and things that seem to have the beauty of all creation in the click of a mouse.

It's nothing besides a the most technologically advanced blank canvas that humans have ever seen. We can't always stop ourselves from seeing things we didn't want to see, but we always control what we put out there, and where our energy goes.

So, yeah, the internet is the worst. And the best. And everything in between.
