Now that Upfronts 2015 have entered the scheduling phase, we thought most of the major renewals, cancellations and pickups had delivered their biggest surprises. Not so apparently, as FOX has decided to put American Idol out to pasture after 15 seasons, ending the reality singing competition for good next year.

Also returning for season 11 is Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler — not exactly the most surprising revelation, considering he initially signed on for more than one season, according to EW.com.
More than 200 "Idol" hopefuls are heading to L.A. from across the country; this year, more hopefuls made it to "Hollywood Week" than in previous years, since the age limit has been lowered to 15. They'll be staying at a hotel in Pasadena, and will compete at a nearby auditorium.
