August 23, 2011 Air and train traffic was disrupted and hundreds of thousands were evacuated from buildings on the East Coast this afternoon following a magnitude 5.9 earthquake centered near Louisa, Virgina. The Pentagon and White House were among buildings evacuated. This less than 24-hours after a 5.3 magnitude quake shook southern Colorado.
On July 16, New York’s Rockefeller Park was lit up like a Christmas tree when over 3,500 people converged for Improv Everywhere’s latest MP3 Experiment. The popular series of “missions,” as IE calls its stunts, asks participants to download an MP3 file, gather in one spot, hit play at the same time and follow the audio instructions for an awesome effect.
The eighth installment in the MP3 mission series included activities with flashlights and glowsticks, giving the phrase “flash mob” an entirely new meaning. Check out video of the mission below:
December 29, 2010 A little over a year ago, I heard a rumor about the development of a Broadway musical based on the Marvel Comics superhero Spider-Man. A few months later, I saw an ad in Entertainment Weekly not only confirmed this rumor, but also revealed that the show was being directed by Julie Taymor (who also directed the hit stage version of "The Lion King"), with music composed by Bono and The Edge from the band U2.
