A Loveland Police officer was shot last night while performing a traffic stop, he was taken to intensive care, but is expected to survive. The the car that had been pulled over was found abandoned, but police are still searching for the suspect(s) involved.
There have been some heart wrenching photos coming from the flooding of the Thompson Canyon and a lot of people have been asking about a beloved store that is pretty much on the banks of said river; The Dam Store.
The Disaster Assistance Center is being set up at the Rocky Mountain Center for Innovation And Technology (formerly the old HP/Agilent Building) at 14th and Taft. Donations are being accepted in Lower D building on the east side of the facility starting at 10:00 AM Sunday morning
Yesterday the City of Loveland knew that they had some problems going on within the cities water system. It looks like they have now isolated part of the problem and are working quickly to ensure that the infrastructure will be easier to repair going forward.
Since the Colorado Flood of 2013, some customers in Loveland have seen a reduction in water pressure, brown water, and in some cases, no water at all. Many don't know what to think although the city has been assuring us that the water supply is safe.
Loveland was split in two by floodwaters from the Big Thompson River last night, and crews are currently working to reopen north-south access. City fire, police, utilities and public works crews, staged both on the north and south sides of the river, are working to maintain services to residents
**UPDATE: As of Sept. 13th, the city of Loveland reports that Wilson Avenue, the last road linking northern and southern Loveland, has been closed due to worsening flood conditions. In other words, the surging Big Thompson River officially has split Loveland in two.**
It seems that the story for Northern Colorado lately has been one of steady growth as the area comes out what was for many individuals and businesses alike has been a brutal recession. This past weekend our area saw the addition of an iconic sportsman's store with Cabelas' grand opening and last night the brand new Mercedees-Benz of Loveland celebrated its entrance to the area as well.
