Loveland's Thompson School District says they are moving "in a different direction" so, the Board of Education voted Wednesday night to terminate Superintendent Ron Cabrera’s contract. Dr. Cabrera was with the school district since 2008.

On Wednesday, I took a guided tour of the High Park Fire. As Poudre Fire Authority guided me along the fire's path of destruction and loss, it reminded me of how the Windsor Tornado traveled over four years ago, behaving in similar fashion when destroying some property, while leaving other property right next door untouched.

The Poudre River Trail Corridor is about to get event better. Thanks to funds from the Colorado Lottery and Great Outdoors Colorado, the Poudre River Trail we love is getting over $5 million for improvements.

The town of Johnstown will be setting off the town fire alarms at noon today to test the systems. Johnstown Police called us to ask us to let people know that when the alarms go off at noon today, it is only a test.

On Tuesday,  the Larimer County Commissioners voted to add additional fire restrictions on open fires, contained open fires and banned the sale and use of fireworks for unincorporated areas of Larimer County through September 30, 2012.

You might see fireworks vendors setting up shop (and tents) to sell fireworks just outside of Greeley's city limits, but the City of Greeley wants to remind residents, fireworks are banned by the state.

The state issued a statement on Tuesday saying that farmers around Greeley and Weld County cannot use existing wells for water as they face drought this season. Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper, shared some bad news for farmers Tuesday morning.

The ground level ozone season has already started. In preventing buildup of this pollutant, it is recommended that we do things that keep contributors out of the air. Smoke is a major contributor to ground level ozone, so the High Park Fire will make the situation a bit worse.
