Some 'Green Eggs and Ham,' anyone? This week is National Reading/Dr. Seuss Week and that means a lot of reading in schools across the country to celebrate. Many elementary schools have special reading events planned over the next few days and on Friday, a new Dr. Seuss movie with the familiar voices Taylor Swift and Zac Efron in the animated flick, "The Lorax".

Online Courses for Elementary and High School Students?

In an effort to accommodate students with varying levels of advancement and in reaction to state budgetary cuts, at least 30 states in the US now let elementary and high school students take all their courses online.

According to Evergreen Education Group, a consulting firm that works with online schools, an estimated 250,000 students nationwide are enrolled in full-time virtual schools, a 40 percent increase in the last three years. And the International Association for K-12 Online Learning, a trade group, says two million kids take at least one class online.

Indiana Is No Longer Requiring Its Public Schools to Teach Cursive Writing

According to the Indiana Department of Education, cursive is becoming obsolete.

In a memo sent to school leaders in the state, it was recommended that schools stop teaching cursive, and instead use that time to make its students more proficient in keyboard use.
