One of my biggest fears when driving is accidentally hitting someone. I've lived in Colorado all my life, so I'm no stranger to deer crossing roads. It's just something you have to be prepared for if you live in the same area as wild animals. Luckily, I've never hit one, though I have had some close calls over the years. The same can't be said for the woman in this story, however.

When I was younger, sometimes my sister and I would get home from school a little earlier than my parents got home from work.  When my dad got home, he would always pat me on the back and say, "Thanks for holding down the fort, Drew!"  I didn't know until just now that, while my dad was praising me for a job well-done, he was also being insensitive to Native Americans!

Parking meters.  In some places, they're everywhere.  It's kind of sad driving through familiar areas where parking used to be free, and now seeing meters menacingly policing all the best spots.  As technology has advanced, so have parking meters; and now one woman is saying the new state-of-the-art money-takers are making her ill, and she wants compensation.  A LOT of compensation!

It seems like most people text with their phones more than they talk on them these days. I text all the time, and I'm not always sure why. It takes more effort to type out thoughts on a tiny keyboard, rather than just say them.  Plus, it's impossible to know someone's inflection and tone of voice through text. If I had a dime for every misinterpreted text I've dealt with, I'd have...well, a whole lot of dimes; at least ten or 20 bucks worth! I love buying things online.  Sometimes, it can be a pain waiting for shipping, but I feel like the convenience of being able to shop at my computer evens that out.  I'll admit, though, that every time I order something online, there's that little part of me that asks, "What if they get the order wrong?"  I'm usually able to dismiss these thought as me just being paranoid; but this story proves that the way I like  shop isn't completely fool-proof.
