Daily Dose of Weird

CNN interviewed a 91-year-old woman in Chili who was told she had a tumor, it turned out to be a calcified fetus.

“I was trying to take a technical conversation regarding your lower back and make it less technical.” Never thought that would be such a problem, but apparently it is.

A man broke into a Baltimore fast-food restaurant last month and ate 16 slices of pie before falling asleep and being captured, police say.

One of my biggest fears when driving is accidentally hitting someone. Some people might call it an irrational fear; but especially if there are a lot of people running around, it's definitely on my mind when I'm behind the wheel. That's why I winced when I saw this video, and quickly followed that wince with a "Woah, no way!"

I've lived in Colorado all my life, so I'm no stranger to deer crossing roads. It's just something you have to be prepared for if you live in the same area as wild animals. Luckily, I've never hit one, though I have had some close calls over the years. The same can't be said for the woman in this story, however.

I was just thinking the other day that I should get a library card. I had one for the library where I grew up, and I have lots of fond library memories from that time. Then I saw this story; and being the somewhat forgetful person that I am, I'm not sure it's such a good idea anymore!

A year or so ago, a friend mentioned to me that some thought the US should get rid of the penny. I was kind of confused. But it turns out, it might actually be a good idea economically; and one store is out to prove it.

When I was younger, sometimes my sister and I would get home from school a little earlier than my parents got home from work.  When my dad got home, he would always pat me on the back and say, "Thanks for holding down the fort, Drew!"  I didn't know until just now that, while my dad was praising me for a job well-done, he was also being insensitive to Native Americans!

Here's a story that might make you reconsider sending your kids anywhere on a plane by themselves.

Parking meters.  In some places, they're everywhere.  It's kind of sad driving through familiar areas where parking used to be free, and now seeing meters menacingly policing all the best spots.  As technology has advanced, so have parking meters; and now one woman is saying the new state-of-the-art money-takers are making her ill, and she wants compensation.  A LOT of compensation!

An art gallery is definitely a place where limitless creativity is put on display.  But what happens when creativity applies to a touchy, possibly offensive subject?  A put-put obstacle shaped like Adolf Hitler, that's what!

If I had to pick my least favorite thing about Summertime, it wouldn't be the heat.  It would be the mosquitos.  Those blood-sucking little buggers leave me itchy for weeks!  Add to that the fact that they carry diseases like West Nile Virus and H1N1 Flu, and there's really no good reason to put up with them.  And luckily, scientists seem to agree.  Read on to see what their plan is!
