City of Greeley Presenting Information on the Impact the High Park Fire Could Have on It’s Water Supply

The Greeley City Council will hear a report at 5 p.m. today, June 12 regarding the current and possible impacts of the High Park Fire on Greeley’s water supply. The presentation will cover the challenges to Greeley’s water supply and the actions the City is currently taking and will take in the future to ensure that the community’s water resources are safe for residents and other water customers.

Greeley’s ‘History Brown Bag Series’ Is Going to the Ghosts this Week

Here's your chance to learn more about Greeley's history. The Greeley Historic Preservation Commission continues the free History Brown Bag Series held on the 4th Thursday of each month through October, 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., at the Greeley History Museum, 714 8th Street. The fourth Brown Bag session will be on Thursday, May 24th, during which Mike and Barbara Webb will present about Ghost Signs.

City of Greeley’s Water Supply Could by Threatened by Hewlett Fire

The Hewlett Fire northwest of Fort Collins has grown to approach Greeley’s Milton Seaman Reservoir.  The Forest Service has evacuated city buildings, including the home of the reservoir caretakers there. The Milton Seaman Reservoir provides water for the City of Greeley and there is potential for the water supply to be affected.

There might be less mosquitoes in Greeley this summer! The City of Greeley is increasing it's mosquito control this year, to the tune of $50,000! In past years the city has only spent about $1,000 a season controlling the buzzing biters.  According to city officials, Greeley was spending far less on mosquito control in past years compared to surrounding cities and towns like Loveland, Windsor and Dacono.

We have all heard that conserving natural resources is a good thing. During the month of April it could mean prizes for you, including a new car. It's been a dry spring so far and the lawns are extra thirsty for water this spring. The City of Greeley has had watering restrictions in place since 1907 to help conserve water during the spring and summer. This year, Greeley is allowing residents to water early.
