"American Idol" or "The Voice?" NBC's singing competition is nearing the same audience as the ratings leader, "American Idol.'" On Monday, "The Voice" inched closer to knocking "Idol" off the rating throne. I have to say I was a huge fan of "Idol" since season one, but more and more it seems to be about drama rather than finding singing talent. I find myself following "The Voice" more closely this year.
They’re competing for a similar demographic, so it only stands to reason that the ‘American Idol‘ judges might not be on the friendliest of terms with their counterparts on NBC’s upstart hit ‘The Voice.’ But it’s still a little surprising to watch the war of words that seems to be unfolding between Adam Levine and Randy Jackson.
On this special, Sunday night, post-NFC championship game edition of ‘American Idol,’ the producers hit San Diego, the So Cal city where the whether is always nice, to mine some talent. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the latest victim of such fickle behavior is season nine winner Lee DeWyze, who’s been dropped by his label, RCA. DeWyze’s debut, ‘Live It Up,’ has sold only 168,000 copies since its release almost a year ago, a few months after he won the Fox competition.
During an appearance on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show on Wednesday, ‘American Idol’ producer Nigel Lythgoe confirmed judges Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, and Randy Jackson would be back for season 11 of the show.
“I am delighted to say that all three judges, along with the brilliant host of ‘American Idol’ are back for the next season,” he told Seacrest, who happens to be the aforementioned “brilliant host” of ‘Idol.’

In an exclusive cover story, Lopez revealed: “It’s not that I didn’t love myself before. Sometimes we don’t realize that we are compromising ourselves. To understand that a person is not good for you, or that that person is not treating you in the right way, or that he is not doing the right thing for himself – if I stay, then I am not doing the right thing for me.”
