Authorities have identified the man who was shot by Greeley police early Monday morning. Joseph Valentino Perez will likely face criminal charges in connection with the incident.

According to a release from the Greeley Police Department,

Officers had been called to a residence at 1327 16th Ave. in Greeley twice Sunday night into Monday on reports of an intoxicated man causing a disturbance. During the first call, the suspect fled the scene.

The second time, Perez was in the residence and officers attempted to arrest him. That’s when police said he advanced on the officers with the weapon and was shot.
