Yesterday evening a man walked into a Walmart in Thornton with a gun and opened fire at the checkout, killing two men and a woman. According to Thornton Police, the suspect, 47-year-old Scott Ostrem, was taken into custody around 8 this morning.Thornton police are expected to release more information during a press conference today.

Police said the suspect walked into the Walmart on Grant St. around 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2017 and "nonchalantly" began firing. Two men were pronounced dead at the scene. A woman was taken to a hospital and was later pronounced dead. The coroner’s office released the names of the three victims.

There’s no indication that Pamela Marques, 52, Carlos Moreno, 66, and Victor Vasquez, 26, knew one another or the suspect before they died, according to Thornton police. The shootings appeared to be random and there were no indications it was an act of terror, according to police spokesman Victor Avila.

He reportedly fled in a red 2017 four-door Mitsubishi Mirage with license plate #882TQB.
