The name of the suspect who was shot and killed by a Loveland police officer at a local pizza restaurant has been released

45-year-old William Rippley was shot by Officer Jennifer Hines after he threw his bicycle into traffic on Highway 34 and ran into the kitchen of the nearby Pizza Ranch restaurant with a knife. Police officers tried to evacuate the patrons and staff of the restaurant. The suspect then grabbed a customer of the restaurant. That’s when Officer Hines fired her weapon at the suspect. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Hines was placed on administrative leave while the investigation is being conducted, which is standard procedure. Two other officers, who were on the scene, Greg Harris and Jay Smith, were also placed on administrative leave to maintain the integrity of the investigation. The name of the suspect will be released by the Coroner’s Office.
