Student Protest Draws 1,500 People in Fort Collins
Yesterday, students from Fort Collins middle and high schools walked out of classes around noon. 15-hundred students and their supporters, including some parents, met in Old Town Square to advocate for gun law reforms in the wake of the Florida shooting that left 17 people dead two weeks ago.
Yesterday's event featured 17 minutes of silence in honor of those killed
Students handed out fliers explaining their mission for legislative action, including banning bump stocks, instituting universal background checks, banning personal ownership of assault rifles and closing gun show and Internet loopholes.
More student protests are expected in the coming weeks. Poudre School District students' spring break falls during the designated national walkout on March 14.
