When the Cupcake Cabaret opened in 2009, it brought a unique and vintage-infused style of entertainment to Fort Collins. Guests can experience authentic, vaudeville-style routines, featuring elegant burlesque dancers showcasing their singing talents and spicing up the night with their sensual performances and bursts of comedic relief.

Burlesque dancing is so much more than just putting on a pair of heels and fishnets and twirling around on stage. It truly is an art form, and requires dancers to have a very special blend of skills when it comes to entertaining and performing live. It's a glamorous job but besides just looking the part, it entails having the ability to learn and memorize choreography quickly and also having the stage presence to be able to engage audiences made up of men and women during sultry, sassy and fun variety shows.

If burlesque sounds like something you would enjoy taking part in, the Cupcake Cabaret is holding a master class and auditions from 1 to 3 p.m. on November 15, to help find their newest showgirl. The class is open to everyone, even to those who are not auditioning but still want to participate. They are seeking female dancers, at least 21-years-old, who are ready to strut their stuff for group and solo performances. Having basic dance experience, especially in jazz, is a major plus. Full stage makeup and a costume is not required, but participants should definitely still show up dressed to impress.

The class/auditions will be held at Vertical Fusion, located 3523 South Mason Street in Fort Collins. Space is limited so if you're interested, be sure to register early. If you register before November 1, the price of the class is $20, after that, it raises to $30. Make sure to bring your filled out application form and headshot along with you. Applicants will be learning a full burlesque jazz routine, featuring a retro style with modern flair to it, and will then be performing the choreography in front of cabaret directors.
