Taylor Swift's new album, Speak Now, has shattered numerous records after more than one million copies were sold in the first week of its release.

According to label reps, Speak Now sold 1,046,718 copies in its first week, handing Swift the biggest single-week sales total since 2005, and landing her in a group of elite female singers. Only Whitney Houston, Norah Jones and Britney Spears had previously sold more than a million copies of an album in a debut week. On top of that, the record became the biggest debuting country studio album ever.

Speak Now accounted for 18 percent of all albums sold this week, making it the top album ever in terms of percentage of sales in a week. Speak Now additionally is the largest album release in its debut in the history of the retailer Target.

The country star will hit the road in 2011 touring in support of Speak Now, with 85 shows planned in 18 countries. Viewers can learn more about the album when NBC airs "Taylor Swift -- Speak Now" on Thanksgiving night.
