Faced with potential lawsuits due to accidents, some cities are choosing to close hills from sledding rather than risk litigation. Dubuque and Des Moines, Iowa as well as Lincoln, Nebraska are just some of the cities that have decided to restrict sledding on some hills while adding sled-at-your-own-risk warning signs to others.

With the litigious society we live in these days, it's not as surprising as it may seem. With huge class-action lawsuits rewarding huge injury settlements all over the country for all kinds of things, most cities are just one accident from being sued into oblivion.

Yahoo News points out that the Dubuque City council members cited several lawsuits from other cities that rewarded injured parties between $2 and $2.7 million in settlement payments. For now, towns in Northern Colorado are still allowing sledding, and we have all the best places to sled in Fort Collins for you right here.
